M.E.’s Team

Michael E. Labanowski of MELCO Enterprises is proud to support M.E.’s Team Charitable Foundation headquartered in Jensen Beach, FL.

M.E.’s Team is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 2006 by Scott and Carrie Proctor. The main goal of M.E.’s Team is to provide financial support and to raise awareness of children in need. M.E.’s Team focuses on the youth of the Treasure Coast. The organization is run by the generosity of volunteers and supporters; all of the staff is volunteer only. The Proctor’s hope that through the collaboration of their efforts and the support of the community great things will be accomplished.

The M.E.’s Team story starts with sadness, but through this event, the Proctor’s eyes were open to the many blessings that surrounded them. The Proctor’s realized that many other children and their families face trials and found a deep desire to help those in need. On March 8th, the Proctor’s welcomed a seemingly healthy baby girl into the world. Although the Proctor’s knew at birth that she had a heart murmur, the Proctor’s were reassured that it wasn’t anything to be alarmed about. Three weeks later, however, the Proctor’s were given the devastating news that she had a very underdeveloped main artery (a coarctation of the aorta) that was not allowing the blood to flow properly. The Proctor’s sweet M.E. was flown to Jackson Memorial Hospital, where she underwent lifesaving open-heart surgery the very next morning. During this time, Scott had just made the MLB roster out of Spring Training with the New York Yankees. The Proctor’s went from such happiness to utter fear that they may lose their baby. Thank God, she survived the surgery, and is now a happy, healthy eleven-year-old girl. Scott and Carrie want to use their experiences to reach out to children in their community who may go without. With the help of our community, as a TEAM, the Proctor’s want to better the lives of children. The Proctor’s focus falls in the following areas: athletics, education, and health. “It takes a village to raise a child.” The Proctor’s hope you will consider joining their Team!

MEL spent some time with Scott and Carrie Proctor, family and friends. Their passion, faith and drive to help those in need are strong.
